Resolution Condemning the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

For the past few weeks, we have seen daily media coverage of the numerous casualties of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We are gravely concerned about  the escalating situation, and like people all over the world, we demand an immediate cease-fire and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Our organization is currently discussing how we can give support and provide necessary humanitarian aid to the area. We are also asking the Japanese government to develop a contingency plan to provide for the Japanese people in the event that Japan is faced with a similar crisis.

In regard to this matter, at the 36th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Fukuoka City Medical Association, we agreed on the following resolution.

Resolution Condemning the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

In the early morning of February 24, 2022, local time, Russian forces invaded the country of Ukraine, after ignoring repeated warnings from the international community not to do so. As a medical organization committed to the health and safety of every individual in our community, we are deeply concerned and saddened by the increasing number of needless deaths and refugees fleeing from harm.

From a humanitarian perspective, we strongly condemn the Russian invasion, which is a blatant infringement of Ukraine’s sovereignty.  We call for an immediate cease-fire and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

This concludes our resolution.
